Here at Buckby, we may not be professional interior designers, but we do work with them and renovate enough to know what designs are trending. Most homeowners don't want to pay for renovation and the advice of yet another professional on decor. So here is what we at Buckby are seeing trending as the most popular interior design styles.
Here are the top interior design trends of 2022:
Home Libraries
The home library is making a comeback inside the home. In the wake of Covid, people are seeing the importance of keeping busy with things other than TV, smartphones, and tablets. As well as providing great storage space, home libraries can make a great design statement. The next time you remodel your home, consider this awesome addition.
Pattern Play
Our clients are embracing more patterns in our projects. Over mixing large, bold prints or overusing prints on all fabrics, walls, and rugs is not recommended. The best way to play with patterns without looking chaotic is to use patterned wallpaper with a patterned stone, wood or brick floor that has shape and form, such as herringbone or chevron.
Textures
In addition to furniture and rugs, textures will be used far outside of them this year, such as tongue-and-groove boards on ceilings, curtains to filter light beautifully, and even lighting to add texture to rooms. See how it makes a room pop when you add small details!
Natural Elements
Throughout 2022, natural elements and colour palettes will remain the hottest decorating trends. Beiges, browns, blues, and greens will provide comfort in homes with a calming presence and an easy-to-recognize look. Furniture with blonde wood will keep spaces looking light and airy. Just ask the experts at Buckby to help you complete the look of your room with some natural elements.
Biophilic Design
Over the last year, biophilic design principles have been used to create calming environments with natural lighting, ventilation, plants and a visual connection to the natural world. Discover how Buckby can help you incorporate a design like this into your home!
Bold Patterns and Colors
As we continue to bring the outdoors in, expect to see a lot of bold colours and patterns reminiscent of the 1960s and 1970s. Among my favourite shades of green, I love Sherwin-Williams' Evergreen Fog, which I have in my own bedroom. Create a variety of spaces in the home by incorporating bold patterns and colours into more rooms.
Traditional Details
The traditional details are making a big comeback in 2022. As the world has changed so much over the past few years, it's no wonder more and more people are seeking comfort, timelessness, or even a touch of nostalgia in their homes. The new year is all about honouring our roots with pattern mixing, skirted or flanged furniture, and antique pieces. And we couldn’t be happier about it!
1970s Decor Inspiration
Colours and decor from the seventies are back in style. More terracotta, sage, and mustard colours will be seen as well as mid-century furniture hallmarks- peg legs on cabinets and tables, teak wood tones, and highly textured fabrics. Let Buckby's experts help you match these decor inspirations with your home renovation. You'll be able to get everything to work together the way you want it to.
